Account Executive
(AE)
Account executives
generally have three to five years of experience in public
relations, journalism, marketing or high technology; prior
agency experience is preferred. Candidates with product
management, engineering, service and support, field technical
sales, consulting, and other nontraditional backgrounds
are also considered.
AEs are the strong “backbone” of the agency’s account teams.
They display all the qualities of the “go to” person – personal
accountability, motivation, energy, an ability to get things done effectively,
and a high desire to learn. They develop and refine tactical skills through execution
and begin to acquire strategic consulting abilities by working closely with senior
account executives, account managers and agency senior staff. They gain a solid
understanding of the client’s business and relevant industry trends. AEs
develop relationships with editors, analysts and their clients’ customers
while implementing multiple client programs. They also proactively
support the agency through new business, marketing and other
activities and represent the agency at industry networking
events.
